Apraku Is No Where Near Nana Addo’s Class…If He Can Be A Good Candidate, Then I’m A Better Aspirant

It doesn’t speak well of him at all…It doesn’t tell a very good story about the character of Dr. Apraku…It puts a very, very big question mark on the type of person, Apraku is…He’s not the best person to tell us whether Akufo Addo is good (for the party) or not. It’s the delegates,…They are the right people to do that…He’s nowhere near the class of Akufo-Addo,” says Maxwell Kofi Jumah.

Former Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Kofi Jumah has jabbed Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, former Campaign Manager for the New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) Presidential Candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in the 2008 elections; for casting innuendos on Nana's credibility.

Hon. Kofi Jumah, speaking in an interview with Peacefmonline.com, described Dr. Apraku as a "worse" would-be candidate for the party.

He expounded that Dr. Apraku, who has also nursed interest in contesting the Flagbearer position of the party, would not make a better potential candidate to harness victory for the NPP, come 2016 general elections.

He expressed disappointment in Dr. Apraku, who delivering a keynote address at the grand inauguration of the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy of the NPP Alumni (TESCONA), startled the party faithfuls, when at the tail-end of his speech, he cast aspersions on the 2008 and 2012 flagbearer.

Dr. Apraku found it difficult to fathom why the NPP, with all its brains and political ammunition, could not succeed in two Presidential elections and so, took a swipe at the leadership of the party.

He asserted that, after two successive defeats by the ruling National Democratic Congress, there is no doubt that the NPP should opt for a change of leadership, particularly the party's flagbearer.

But according to Hon. Kofi Jumah, “If Akufo-Addo was not a good product, then Apraku will be a worst product. He’s not the person who should replace Akufo-Addo…Indeed, if Apraku can be a good Presidential candidate, then I don’t see why Maxwell Kofi Jumah cannot be a better Presidential candidate.”

He admitted that Dr. Apraku may have fed into the mainstream of party members whose agenda is to sabotage Nana Addo.

“It doesn’t speak well of him at all…It doesn’t tell a very good story about the character of Dr. Apraku and that he should be very careful how he navigates through this…It puts a very, very big question mark on the type of person, Apraku is. Indeed, if I were to be in his position; I will never consider standing in Akufo Addo’s stead.

“He’s not the right person to tell us whether Akufo-Addo is right or not. It’s the delegates, people who elect Akufo-Addo. They are the right people to do that…it’s unfortunate that we have people like Dr. Apraku and others who probably allow their personal ambition to cloud their judgment…He’s nowhere near the class of Akufo Addo,” he posited.
