can confirm that the Chief Executive Officer of Tobinco Pharmaceuticals
Limited, Mr. Samuel Amo Tobin, has been released by the Nima Police
Command where he was being detained.
Amo Tobin was picked up on
Monday by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) and kept at the
Nima Divisional Police Command and charged with obstruction of justice.
According to sources, EOCO acting on information that Tobinco
had imported fake drugs into the country decided to lock the company's
warehouse on the Spintex Road but workers of the company resisted the
action prompting them to arrest its CEO for alleged obstruction.
Tobinco
Pharmaceutical Limited has been in the news for the past few weeks for
allegedly importing fake and unregistered medicines into the country.
Tobinco had denied importing fake drugs but conceded that the G-Sunate plus it imported is yet to be registered by the FDA.
Lawyers of Tobinco succeeded in pleading for their client to be released on bail after signing a bond of GHC 1 Million.
He is also expected to return to the station as investigations continue. |
