Mahama’s Maladministration Is Due To Sheer Incompetence

Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Former Member of Parliament for Asokwa, says Ghanaians have a short memory of the achievements of the Kufour administration, a reason why they voted for the current Mahama government.

According to him, if Ghanaians had paid due attention to the Kufour government, they wouldn't have given the current administration the nod to head the State.

Speaking to Peacefmonline.com regarding the recent statement by President Mahama that "Ghanaians have a short memory" of his government's initiatives and activities, which to him (Mahama), have led to a stabilization of the economy, Hon. Kofi Jumah said, on the contrary, he believed President Mahama’s rule has far worsened the plight of Ghanaians.

He explained in an interview with Peacefmonline.com that President Mahama inherited a robust economy but due to his "incompetence" has torn the nation into shreds.

“There was no energy crisis in this world. They dug a hole, put themselves in the hole through their own incompetence and managed to get out of it after sweating for well over a year…It’s not because Ghanaians have short memories and because Ghanaians don’t understand the issue. They knew what he inherited. He didn’t inherit a situation where there was an energy crisis.

“There was an energy crisis as a result of shortage of water in the Akosombo Dam but that had been resolved long time ago. With his situation, he didn’t have an excuse. It’s just sheer incompetence that brought him where he is and he’s struggling through it. So, that is what Ghanaians remember…He has put the country on reverse.”

To him, “Ghanaians have a lot of patience and they always want to give people the benefit of the doubt. He (President Mahama) came in, made a lot of promises and Ghanaians wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and to believe him…So, it’s not because they have short memories. It’s because he has disappointed Ghanaians.

“They have short memories of the achievements of the Kufour administration. And so, if Ghanaians truly have short memories; that could explain why they voted for him because they would never have voted for him giving the achievements of ex-President Kufour,” he posited.
