Owusu Bempah Slams Mahama Over Council Of State Appointee

NDP Firebrand, Ernest Owusu Bempah has taken a swipe at President John Dramani Mahama over his Council of State appointee, Abraham Kwaku Manu.

According to Ernest Owusu Bempah, Mr. Abraham Kwaku Manu does not deserve to hold such a position in government following his attacks on the elders of the Saviour Church of Ghana.

The Elders of Saviour Church of Ghana threatened to defend themselves should government refuse to intervene on the numerous attacks against them since the demise of their founder, Opanyin Isaac Kwadwo Asirifi in 1997.

The attacks were believed to have stemmed from "the camp of Abraham Kwaku Adusei who is allegedly claiming to be the successor of the late founder contrary to the 'the spirit's choice of leader' being Elia Asirifi Dadeako."

The elders revealed that their members have been taken through series of brutalities and other maltreatment for the past 16 years but all their efforts to draw the attention of President Mahama, the Ghana Police and National Security to remedy the situation have failed.

Addressing the press in Accra on Wednesday, "the Secretary of the Saviour Church, Kweku Ashmond noted that the decision by Mr. Adusei as the heir brought factions (Adusei and Dadeako factions), thereby creating enmity and subsequently a breakaway," as published by the New Crusading Guide.

“On 8th March 2001, there was an attack on us by the Adusei faction. Some six vehicles load of thugs from Adusei’s faction, armed with dangerous weapons pounced on some members of the Ntonso Saviour Church Mission in the Ashanti Region. They broke the foundation of a house owned by one S.O Nyamekye using cudgels, pick axes etc. The mob broke houses open, broke furniture, appliances and anything they could lay hands on. Men, women and children run into bushes and later sought refuge at Kenyasi in the Ashanti Region for a week. They wounded and psychologically devastated members of the church who reported the case to Mamponteng Police. The then District Police Commander, A. S. P Ampofo Duku refused to investigate this senseless violence on innocent victims of Ghana. It was further reported to Asonomaso Police, who issued the victims with medical forms and took statement from them. Yet when the Asonomaso Police sought the advice of the A.S.P. Ampofo Duku, he stopped them from pursuing the case," Ashmond underscored.

Speaking on Oman FM, Ernest Owusu Bempah labeled Mr. Abraham Adusei as a "criminal" subjugating the church and on a mission to ruin the people.

He called for a rapid response from the President and the National Security Coordinator, Gbevlo Lartey, to resolve the conflict and also ensure that the law takes its course on Mr. Adusei.

“He is a criminal. He’s been made a Council State member. He’s roaming in town as a member of the Council of State and using criminal ways to subjugate people and destroy people…That Abraham Kwaku Adusei has never been seen before. We’ve not seen his face ever before. So, he’s a myth walking around as a member of Council of State…Culture of impunity is destroying Ghana,” Owusu Bempah added.
