Director
General in charge of Police Operations, John Kudalor has assured
Ghanaians the Police Service will be apt in providing security during
the yuletide this year.
According to him, the Police force has
inaugurated the fifth edition of "Operation Father Christmas", which is
intended to safeguard the citizenry.
He said on Radio Gold that
the aim of the Police Service this year is to create an enabling
environment devoid of any criminal activities and the influx of road
accidents.
This year's "Operation Father Christmas", he stated,
"is a mechanism and strategy that we have put in place as a Police
Service to ensure we create an enabling environment devoid of any
untoward activity so that the good people of this country can
legitimately go about their business during the yuletide without any
fear of intimidation or molestation.”
The Police Service has also
trained recruits and will dispatch a number of patrol teams to beef up
security in various areas of the country.
He further added that
the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit has been fully resourced to manage
traffic on the roads, this Christmas season.
“We shall ensure
that passengers and travellers are not impeded unnecessary by road
blocks and road checks…We shall gather intelligence on criminal
hideouts, their plans, to be able to nip them in the bud. It’s going to
be more of proactive and preventive policing,” he pledged. |
