The Chairman of the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), Dr. Ayew Afriyie says the statement by Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbery condemning the decision by the opposition New Patriotic Party to boycott the by-elections in the Buem and Akatsi South constituencies is "senseless and reckless".
Dr. Wereko Brobbey in a statement issued by him described the NPP's decision to boycott the by-elections as "illogical and nonsensical" and argued that if the opposition party declines in contesting the by-elections; then its Parliamentarians should step down as a matter of principle.
His comments has so far attracted several criticisms from some members of the party.
Nana Akomea, Communications Director of the party, explained that it would rather be "illogical" on the NPP's "part to take part in elections to be supervised by the very body we have sued in court.”
He explained that the NPP's decision to boycott the by-elections is to help the party focus on their pursuit for justice at the Supreme Court.
Dr. Afriyie reacting to the recent comments by Dr. Wereko Brobbey told Adom FM that the NPP leading member should have used the appropriate channels within the party to address his concerns, rather than using the media.
