Spokesperson for former President Rawlings, Kofi Adams has taken a swipe at the leadership of the National Democratic Congress for thwarting his attempts to vie for the post as Member of Parliament for Buem constituency.
Kofi Adams in an interview with Citi FM expressed regrets over the party’s stance to exclude him from contesting the Buem seat.
The leadership of the NDC on Wednesday disqualified Kofi Adams from contesting the Buem by-elections on the ticket of the party.
According to the General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, until the NDC concludes “the disciplinary proceedings”; Mr Adams’ “right to participate in elections under the sponsorship of the party is extinguished.”
Mr. Adams had his election as the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC revoked after an audio-tape purported to contain his voice, plotting for the party’s downfall in last year’s elections was disclosed.
The party’s leadership suspended him over the leaked tape.
Mr. Adams’ expulsion from contesting the by-elections in the Buem constituency obviously has been linked to the stalemate between him and the NDC.
The leaders have emphasized that until Mr. Adams is absolved from the sanction; he cannot be given the nod to stand for the Buem seat.
But reacting to the party’s recent decision to disqualify him, Kofi Adams stressed that “those who want to continue to divide, they can go ahead and do whatever they want to do but I will not be moved by their actions to think that I will do anything.”
He sermonised the leadership saying he will not bite tooth for tooth but rather leaves “vengeance to God”.
Quoting the scriptures from Roman 12:17-21 to buttress his point; he had this to say:
“I will leave for them a biblical verse for them to go and read that is Romans 12: 17-21. What is says is a lot that ‘I will not be angered, I will not refuse to even give water to those I perceived as against me, those I perceive as those who don’t want my progress, those who want to do me evil, I will continue to give them water and I will leave vengeance to God himself.”
He also had a word for the “evil forces” in the party:
“The evil forces know themselves. Those who did everything possible including the fact that even when many disagreed with the position that they were tabling at the meeting yesterday, refused to put the matter to a vote because they knew if it was put to a vote at the meeting yesterday, majority were going to vote in my favour.”
