Former President Kufuor Launches New Movie "Wrong Target"

Blue Ray Pictures last week pushed the Ghanaian movie industry’s envelop by becoming the first production company to not only launch a movie (Wrong Target) after premiering it, but to do so in a grand fashion featuring former president John Agyekum Kufuor.

The august event held at the African Regent Hotel on Monday November 19 attracted much of the industry’s who-is-who including stars of Wrong Target, John Dumelo, Christable Ekeh, and Edward Agyekum Kufuor, as well as other stars like Prince David Osei, Juliet Ibrahim, etc.

‘Wrong Target’ has been hailed as “a welcomed departure from the norm,” “the next level in Ghanaian movie story-telling,” “featuring special effects never before seen in Ghana,” “a bold first step by Blue Ray Pictures,” etc.

Furthermore, the VCD features interviews of the cast and crew as well as behind-the-scenes look at how certain scenes were captured, also a first in Ghana.

But speaking at the event, Blue Ray Pictures’ President Jermaine Nkrumah gave special recognition to the icons of the Ghanaian movie industry such as Shirley Frimpong Manson, Sallaam of Venus Films, iconic stars like Jackie Appiah, Nadia Buari, John Dumelo, Van Wicker, Majid, and all those who contributed to elevating the Ghanaian movie industry to the level where it represents an attractive investment.

Nkrumah also charged all movie producers to join the race for the first Ghanaian producer to have his or her product nominated at the Oscars and Academy Awards in the United States. President Kufuor purchased the first ceremonial copy of the VCD, after which an auction of the next ten copies was held.

In all, attendees had fun as MC Yaw Sakyi dazzled them with contemporary humor.

Several radio and television stations were on hand to cover the launching that many now are promising to sustain as the next staple of movie promotion. Wrong Target is scheduled to be released into the market by Diamond Word Films on Monday December 3, 2012.

It is certain to change your impression of Ghanaian movies.
