Polling Officials commence training today – EC announces
The Electoral Commission will commence training for the polling officials who will conduct the elections, on Friday, November 16. Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan, explained that the training will be done in bits in order to make the supervision of the persons involved effective. He stated that “most of the important training is being done in batches of 20 so that we can supervise everybody in the practical…” He spoke to Citi FM in Accra. He also said that the EC is “training them in smaller groups so that the training is hands-on and not instructional.” He promised that there will be adequate ballot papers at the polling stations to ensure a smooth voting process on December 7. “When we print ballot papers, we add 10% and since we do not split ballot papers, we are printing in denominations of 100s, 50s and 25s so when a polling station is 102, we will give them 125 ballot sheets so there should be no shortage of ballot papers at any station,” he said.
