Jailed Bawku MP granted Presidential pardon

Imprisoned Member of Parliament of the New Patriotic Party for Bawku, Adamu Dramani Sakande, has been granted a Presidential pardon.

The MP was apprehended and sentenced to two years imprisonment.

 He was found guilty on two counts of perjury, deceiving a public officer and a false declaration of office.

 He became an MP for Bawku Central after denouncing his UK citizenship but later arrested for deceit and convicted in July, 2012.

Mr. Adamu Sakande is reported to have taken ill and admitted at the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
