Central Regional Propaganda Secretary for the
National Democratic Congress, Bernard Allotey-Jacobs says he will turn down any
appointment offer from President John Dramani Mahama.
He revealed this Tuesday night on Adom TV channel
on Multi TV.
According to him, he will not accept any offer from
President John Mahama as an appointee in his government.
He however stated that “the President has held
consultations with the party at all the Regional branches” to ensure his
cabinet members are decentralized.
Allotey-Jacobs reacting to the decision by the
majority in Parliament to appoint the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan, Joe Ghartey, as the Second Deputy Speaker of
Parliament; said President Mahama played a key role in the appointment of the
NPP Stalwart.
He said the decision was reached after President
Mahama stepped in which portrays him as a peaceful leader.
To him, the move by the President is “a
demonstration of his peaceful nature and his quest to see the nation united”.
He however stressed that “The NDC had to swallow
their pride by bringing in Joe Ghartey [as Second Deputy Speaker]; we were bent
on giving it to the PNC.”
