Labour
Consultant Austin Gamey has implored CLOSSAG authorities to address
their grievances with the National Labour Commission as a means to
resolve their conflict with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
Speaking
on Radio Gold's "Gold Power Drive", Mr. Austin Gamey bemoaned the
indiscipline in the labour front where Labour Unions fail to lodge
complaints with the National Labour Commission.
“We have a
National Labour Commission which is an institution that we have all
agreed as a nation that should there be any labour-related problem, we
should all go there for them to assist us with other experts in
resolving these matters.
“Over the years, Labour Unions have
conveniently found it prudent to use the medium of strike as a weapon to
compel employers to yield to their wish or desires without following
some of these principles. Some of the Unions generally have been
following it meticulously to go to the Labour Commission and have their
matters redressed. Unfortunately, CLOSSAG is among the few Unions
together with of course some of the employer’s network or so, not being
able to follow these principles meticulously,” he said.
He
appealed to the Labour Unions to "go to appropriate bodies we have put
together to help them resolve these matters without resorting to
unnecessary practice like this one.” |
