Former
Information Minister in the erstwhile Kufuor Administration, Stephen
Asamoah Boateng, strongly insists the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has no
knowledge of any new party formed purposely, he believes, to counter the
NPP’s electoral fortunes, come 2016.
Posters of a newly
yet-to-be outdoored political party, Miracle People's Party (MPP) have
been seen at certain areas in the capital, Accra.
This has since raised eyebrows about the people behind the circulation of the posters.
Some
political analysts have argued that some leading members of the NPP may
be the masterminds behind the formation of the new party, but speaking
to Okay FM's "Ade Akyea Abia" show, the NPP's Director of Finance and
Administration, Hon. Opare Hammond accused the party's political rivals
of being the real architects behind the new party.
He denounced
reports that some NPP bigwigs have been circulating the posters, saying
the "MPP party is not from the NPP. We (NPP) have political detractors
who are trying to sow all kinds of discord to divide the NPP party and
to mount tension. The truth is, no NPP member is behind this so-called
Miracle People’s Party (MPP).
“… Our opponents are behind this, though I will not mention names, but it’s clear who they are,” Opare Hammond said.
Also
commenting on the issue, the former NPP Information Minister discounted
the speculations that some NPP activists are the architects of the
formation of the new party and implored the general public to ignore the
machinations by those "faceless people".
To him, the NPP is rather focused on clinching victory in the 2016 general elections in order to end the plight of Ghanaians.
“We
don’t want to entertain them. They are some faceless people who should
be ignored. NPP, the New Patriotic Party, is what we pray for. It is
where our hope lies. And we are praying to God to help us so that we
make Ghana a better place.”
