National Democratic Congress (NDC) Stalwart, Stephen Atubiga has dared Ghanaian music icon Sarkodie and celebrities in the country to advance their mission of "#Dumsormuststop" Vigil.
#Dumsormuststop campaign masterminds Rapperholic Sarkodie and actress Yvonne Nelson have announced and called on Ghanaians to join them as they hold a vigil on Saturday, May 16, 2015 to register their displeasure with the erratic power cuts in the country.
The celebrities appear peeved by the failure of the Mahama administration to resolve the power crises.
The celebrities' move seems to have triggered a countereaction from the NDC devotee Stephen Atubiga.
Stephen Atubiga has promised the entire nation that he will lead a crusade to "burn of their music and movies" should the celebrities embark on their mission.
According to him, President John Mahama has kept reminding the Ghanaian populace to work his backbreaking way to solve the issue.
He therefore questioned the logic in the agitations from Sarkodie and his colleagues in the entertainment industry.
"What is wrong with some of our young musicians and actors in this country? How can sakodeyee and co want to lead npp dirty work. Their celebrant or celebrity is the pride of we Ghanaians not for any political party."
He also stated emphatically that Sarkodie aims at “championing nana addo dirty work. the dumsor is a national issue not political."
To Stephen Atubiga, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) appears to be the brain behind the celebrity protests.
"...for him trying to undermine our president effort in ending the dumsor for Nana Addo, he should bring it on," he stated.
Read below full statement that he (Stephen Atubiga) wrote on his Facebook wall;
What is wrong with some of our young musicians and actors in this country? How can sakodeyee and co want to lead npp dirty work.
Their celebrant or celebrity is the pride of we Ghanians not for any political party. we will boycott their music and movies if they try championing nana addo dirty work. the dumsor is a national issue not political.
I have listened to some of sakodeye music about the dumsor, which I respect his creativity. But for him trying to undermine our president effort in ending the dumsor for Nana Addo, he should bring it onn. Any ndc voter or supporters will not patronize their products and we will come together to burn any of their music and movies we have bought in protest of their undermining of jm.
I love sakodeye , I love his music with my family, what he is trying to do, I hope he rethink because I will lead the unrest against them if they undermine JM for Npp. Well, they should bring it onn. |
