Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has called on all NPP executives and members to refrain from all political discussions in the media as the party mourns the late Upper East Regional Chairman, Mahama Adams.
Nana Addo released a statement Thursday morning on Facebook, urging the NPP "as a sign of respect to our dear departed Chairman" to remain calm as the NPP takes stock of their loss.
He appealed to the NPP members to show "responsibility" and "solidarity with each other".
"We should not take the law into our own hands, but support the police in their conduct of proper investigations into this tragedy, so that those responsible are brought to book in accordance with the law. We must stand together at this time, not against each other. I also urge all of us, as a sign of respect to our dear departed chairman, to refrain from all political discussions for today as we take stock of our loss. May the Almighty God give his soul perfect peace.#RIPAdamsMahama"
The NPP Flagbearer further expressed his condolence to the deceased family and recounted his long-term relationship with the late Mahama Adams.
"I'm heartbroken. He was a good friend of mine. We've known each other for a long time..."
