Ga State Cannot Override Ghana State; #DumsorMustStop Vigil Must Hold - Kabila

James Kwabena Bomfeh, former CPP General Secretary, says the Ga Traditional Council's petition to the Regional Police Command to stop the#Dumsormuststop vigil in Accra is unconstitutional.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", James Kwabena Bomfeh, also called Kabila told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the Ga Traditional Leaders have no right whatsoever to threaten the progress of the Celebrities vigil.

According to him, they cannot override the laws of the country and so, he urged the celebrities on to hold their vigil in protest against the current administration.

The Ga Traditional Council has petitioned the Greater Accra Regional Police Command to stop the vigil yet-to-be held by some Ghanaian celebrities.

The vigil falls within the period of the ban which starts from Monday May 11 to Thursday June 11, 2015.

But reacting to the petition, Kabila admonished the Ga Traditional Council to mind their own business and allow the celebrities to show the Mahama government their rage over the power crises.

“...Ghana is a Republic. Ghana is not a monarchy. I’m even surprised that we allow those things to happen in Ghana. I’m telling you; that an ethnic group by their own celebration can stop a country? The rules of this country! What is the meaning of that? Where do they have a place in our constitution to do that?

“What has the vigil hosting got to do with your observance of silence for a month? How long is the vigil going to take? How long will the vigil be? When did Ga State override Ghana State?” he questioned.

He further stated emphatically that President John Mahama "and his team; they don’t take us serious" and so he believed the vigil "is correct. It is appropriate. It’s necessary. We need more of the vigils. Ga Traditional Council; if they’re not concerned with the ‘dum sor’ they should stay.

He promised to join the protest.
