Editor of the Ghanaian Lens newspaper, Kobby Fiagbe has called on members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to "overthrow" the party's leaders if they do not repose confidence in them.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Kobby Fiagbe told host Nana Yaw Kese that the infighting and bickering in the NPP have exceeded its limits and it's time the party's members made a decision on who to trust among its leaders.
According to him, if care is not taken, the internal wrangling in the NPP may degenerate into a game of revenge mission from supporters of the party's National Chair Paul Afoko and those on the other side.
He argues this will not augur well for the democracy and security of the nation, and called for the party to boldly kick out leaders they believe have lost credibility.
“How can you have leaders of your party and you will not trust them? And you’ll not have confidence in them? Then, go and overthrow them and install persons you trust…I really seriously don’t understand it. And for me, it shows that the NPP has not learnt anything at all from all the histories that we have had to go through."
He appealed to the party to resolve it internal conflicts immediately to ward off any signs of danger.
“It is very [very] sad…The earlier the elders in the NPP sat down with the people and resolve these matters once and for all, the better it will be for all of us…I think the earlier they admit that they have a huge problem on their hands. The suspicions and mistrust that is amongst them, the earlier they sat down and dispose of it; the better it will be for all of them,” Kobby Fiagbe said. |
