Senior Journalist, Kweku Baako Jnr has rebuked the Ga Traditional Council over the attempt to stop some celebrities’ from embarking on a vigil about the current power crises.
Speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo”, Kweku Baako described the petition as a wrong move on the part of the Ga Traditional Council who petitioned the Greater Accra Regional Police in a bid to stop the organizers and the participants from holding any vigil within their demarcated territory.
The seasoned journalist stressed that they should have addressed their concerns to the organizers of theDumsorMustStop Vigil and not the Greater Accra Police Command. To Kweku Baako, the organizers "have never given an impression that the vigil will be some jamboree” and so, their actions did not merit the kind of reaction from the Ga Traditional Council.
“Did the organizers give any impression that the event will be some jamboree? It doesn’t have to occur. It doesn’t have to. The impression that everybody got is that this was going to be a certain quiet march…That’s the impression all of us got. But if you feel that this is going to degenerate into a noisy act; your first point of call should have been to direct your appeal to the organizers,” he said.
