What Kind Of Democracy Is NPP Practicing? - John Jinapor Questions

Deputy Power Minister, John Jinapor has called on the leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to call their supporters to order.

Contributing to Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" Friday, he bemoaned the actions by some irate youth activists in the Upper East Region in the total destruction of the party's Regional Vice Chairman's car moments after news of the Regional Chair who was acid bathed to death went viral.

The youth were also reported to have besieged the party headquarters in Accra and warned their National Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong to tread cautiously or else will incur their wrath.

John Jinapor, speaking to the issue, called for calm in the NPP because to him, no amount of agitations and violence following the death of the party's Upper East Regional Chairman, Mahama Adams, can bring him back to life.

The man is already dead. You can go to heaven or hell, he’s already dead but at least justice must be served. But is this justice? You’ve mangled your Vice Chairman’s Benz car; maybe he’s innocent. Why do you do that? I mean why do you do that?

John Jinapor appealed to the NPP to leave justice in the hands of the Ghana Police Service and further charged the Police Service to do everything within their means to bring the culprits to book.

There should no fear. There should be no favour. They should interrogate and investigate the issue for the culprits to face the full rigors of the law…what kind of democracy is this? So, are there no leaders…The least we can do is to assist the Police,” he added.
