Policy Analyst of the People's National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed has condemned the acid attack on NPP Upper East Regional Chairman which resulted in his death Thursday Morning.
Mahama Adams, Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was entering his house on Wednesday when some assailants poured acid on his entire body.
He passed away on Thursday morning at the Bolgatanga hospital.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Atik Mohammed was worried about the current trend of politics in the country.
According to him, politics is about tolerance of opposing views but not an avenue to perpetrate any criminal activity.
He bemoaned the acid attack on the NPP Regional Chair and called on the Police Service to apprehend the assailants.
He further appealed to the security service to let the laws of the country take its course without favour or fear.
“What happened in Upper East serves as one of the unspeakable blot on our democratic credentials that we’ve been able to demonstrate over the last 20 or so years…We must begin to separate crime from politics. As for politics; it does not advocate crime. It does not approve of crime. Whether organized or not...it’s about disagreeing to agree. It does not mention violence as an alternative in that disagreement or agreement process," he stressed. |
