Over 150,000 votes have been added to the votes of the President-elect John Dramani Mahama, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) claims.
The party believes this revelation will effect
changes in the pronouncement of President John Mahama as winner in the December
polls.
They are confident there could be a possible
run-off should the evidence gathered by the party prove that the figures were
manipulated to the benefit of the incumbent President.
NPP Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for
Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, addressing the party’s keep fit clubs in Kumasi
today indicated the party would finalize its investigations by the end of
Sunday.
Speaking to the NPP supporters ahead of the party’s
demonstration on Tuesday, he disclosed that two IT experts have been employed
from Kumasi to probe the electoral results.
He added there is also an independent audit into
the presidential results.
The NPP has since the Electoral Commission’s
announcement of President John Mahama as winner in the polls, challenged the
veracity and accuracy of the results and threatened to pursue their case in
court.
According to them, the party has detected some
inadequacies in the figures which therefore point out to electoral fraud.
The NPP will on Tuesday stage a massive
demonstration in the Ashanti Region to protest the electoral results.
The party says, as part of its activities during
Tuesday’s demonstration, a petition will be presented to the Asantehene,
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The Keep fit rally saw numerous members of the NPP
clubs converging at Adum, Santasi and Suame roundabouts in Kumasi.
