The first lady, Lordina Mahama, and Samira Ramadan
Bawumia, wife of the running mate of the NPP’s Flagbearer, were among those who
graduated at the weekend at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public
Administration (GIMPA in Accra.
President John Mahama was the special guest at the
event where his wife earned a Master’s degree in Governance and Leadership.
Mrs. Bawumia, on the other hand, graduated with a Master’s degree in project
management. Mrs. Bawumia also had two awards; Best student in Master of
Business Administration (MBA) for Project Management and Prof. Yaw Agyemang
Badu Academic Scholarship Award for the student with highest GPA.
Some government officials including former
information Minister John Tia Akologo, Deputy Women and Children’s Affairs
minister Hajia Hawawu Boya Gariba and Member of Parliament-elect for
Odododiodio constituency Nii Lante Vanderpuye, graduated with a Master’s in
governance and Leadership as classmates of Lordina Mahama.
About 633 people graduated in both undergraduate
and graduate programmes. Speaking at the 12th congregation, President Mahama
gave the assurance that government would continue to empower GIMPA to train
more professionals.
