The Chief Executive Officer of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Professor Nii Otu Nartey, has announced his retirement from office with effect from next year.
He explained that his retirement comes on the heels of the Board’s appointment of Professor Afua Hesse, Director of Medical affairs, as the Chief Administrator of the hospital.
Professor Otu Nartey made this declaration over the weekend during the second end of the year’s awards ceremony for the staff of the hospital.
Several staff members were awarded for their phenomenal efforts and hard work in enhacing the progress of the hospital.
Professor Otu Nartey, speaking at the ceremony, disclosed that he would proceed after his retirement to the University of Ghana Medical School as a lecturer to impact the students with his knowledge and exceptional medical experience.
He also advised the hospital staff to “continue to show commitment, dedication and good attitudes in the discharge of your duties. Let us bury the spirits of apathy and laziness and rather uphold oneness, teamwork and mutual respect. “
He thanked the Board, Management and the entire staff of the hospital for their selfless assistance and cooperation during his term of office.
He urged them to show commitment and also offer their support to the new Chief Executive Officer.
The awardees came from various departments such as Diagnostics, Administration, Pharmacy, Orderlies, and Transport.
The Overall Best Staff award went to the Deputy Director of Nursing Services at the Surgical Medical Unit, Madam Alice Afi Adjormadoh.
Professor Otu Nartey's retirement takes effect from January 1, 2013.
