The Executive Director of the West Africa Network
for Peace building (WANEP), Emmanuel Bombande has commended the Ghana Police
Service for their efforts in maintaining law and order during the elections.
He applauded the Police saying the service has exhibited
professionalism in ensuring peace in the just-ended elections.
Though the nation has seen traces of violence meted
out to both New Patriotic Party’s and the ruling National Democratic Congress’
supporters, the Police have been enormously praised for their professional way
of bringing sanity and calm into the nation.
Supporters of both parties have been in violent
clashes inflicting wounds on themselves either for vengeance or the bitterness
of defeat in the elections.
The Police however admittedly say the attacks pose
a challenge to the administration; they are frantically working hard to abate
the situation.
Emmanuel Bombande continued to commend the police
stating the police should be credited for exhibiting such courage in
maintaining law and order.
He also urged Ghanaians to cooperate with the
Police and volunteer information to assist them in their work.
