The Ghana Police Service says the service is in
control of security in the country and has therefore assured the nation it will
safeguard the safety of the citizenry.
Speaking to Citi FM, Acting Public Affairs Director
of the Police Service, DSP Cephas Arthur urged Ghanaians to remain calm as “There
is no cause for alarm; we have regrettable and unfortunately recorded a few
incidence though but it isn’t a situation that cause for throwing hands in the
air in despair.”
He further stressed that “people should not be
alarmed at what is happening; the security agencies are in control. We
shouldn’t let the general public feel the situation has degenerated as the
media makes it look or sound; this is not a degenerated situation”, despite the
recent violent clashes between supporters of the ruling National Democratic
Congress and opposition New Patriotic Party.
He also stated that security agencies have been
spread abroad the country to maintain law and order.
