Tema Motorway to undergo major changes – Joe Gidisu

The Tema Motorway will soon undergo some major changes in order to ease the traffic situation on the road.

Minister of Roads and Highways, Joe Gidisu in an interview with Citi FM, disclosed that the Tema Motorway will be expanded in order to tone down the pressures on the highway and therefore make it more accessible to road users.

He revealed that plans are far advanced to construct an interchange at the Tema Roundabout.

“There is going to be a three-lane carriage way from the Tema roundabout up to the Shai hills.”

He expounded that “People complain of the pot holes on them (Tema motorway) and I want to assure them that we have almost gone through the procurement to refurbish the road and add two extra lanes on both sides of the motor way.”

He further indicated that a fly over will also be constructed to “take the road to the Nungua farms.”

Residents at Tema can now give a sigh of relief while work begins on the motorway to diminish the bumper-to-bumper traffic that has since characterized the area.

Hon. Joe Gidisu noted that the project will ensure that users are not stuck in heavy traffic congestion and also get rid of the potholes.
