No mobile phones will be allowed; nobody will be allowed to take pictures – EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) has warned electorates and the general public that the commission will not allow mobile phones to be used inside voting booths on the Election Day.

The EC cautions electorates not to use mobile phones to photograph their ballots in the booths.

According to the Central Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Philomena Adusei, the practice violates the sanctity and secrecy of the polls.

She emphasized, in her address to political party representatives and women groups in Cape Coast, that “…The Commission will not allow anybody to take pictures during voting in the polling booth.”

Speaking to Joy FM, a Media Strategist Maximus Ametorgoh supported EC’s decision, therefore explaining that if voters take pictures of their ballots, it would encourage the culture of vote buying.
