NPP is toying with God – Joseph Yamin
NDC Ashanti Regional Secretary, Joseph Yamin, has accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of toying with God and using him for their political gains.
To him, the NPP only seek God when they are in opposition but neglect him after they win power.
He said despite the party enlisting the help of God, Ghanaians will show them the exit in the December 7 elections.
The NDC Secretary made these remarks on Adom FM in reaction to the opposition NPP’s praise and prayer service which was held in Kumasi at the Baba Yara stadium.
The party bigwigs and functionaries stormed the stadium to ask for God’s blessings to clinch victory in the general elections, come December.
The service was themed: ‘Jericho Shall Fall.’
Joseph Yamin who expressed doubt about the genuine intent of the party to hold such a mammoth service at the stadium over the weekend, said the Ashanti Kingdom which remains a stronghold for the New Patriotic Party will disappoint the party by voting them out in the elections.
He explained that the electorates in Ashanti Region have lost confidence in the opposition party and will therefore issue them a red card during the general elections.
‘In 2000 when NPP was in opposition, they were singing (Cindy Thompson’s) Awurade Kasa everywhere, people were crying and the NPP was using it to solicit funds. But when they won, in 2004 it was Kufuor nie, Osono nie. In 2008 it was Lumba singing, and Nana Akufo-Addo was dancing Azonto. Today they are in opposition they are singing gospel again.’ he said.
Rebutting the claims by the NDC Ashanti Regional Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly called “Sir John”, stressed the government is frightened by the teeming crowd that trooped into the stadium to support the party.
