MY PULPIT IS NOT FOR PARTISAN POLITICS

General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensah Otabil, has admonished President Mahama to caution his party officials who use him to tout their political ambition.

He called on the President to issue a stern warning to the perpetrators of the recent tape recording of his voice circulating through the media, to quit such machination to score political points.

Addressing the media at his church premises today to establish the real facts surrounding the purported tape, Dr. Mensah otabil refuted the content of tape saying his intent has been manipulated by some people within the National Democratic Party to promote their political ambition.

He therefore appealed to President John Mahama to “rise up and speak” against the manipulation of his sermons for political gains because “the perpetrators of these blatant acts of impunity are largely affiliates and surrogates of your party.”

Pastor Mensah Otabil has come under heavy public criticism following the release of a tape purporting to express his intents against the opposition New Patriotic Party’s free S.H.S policy.

After the release of different tape recordings of the I.C.G.C General Overseer on three consecutive times, the need has arisen to set the record straight.

Pastor Mensah Otabil in a press conference stressed “Today I come a simple pastor, I do not have the machinery of State behind me, I do not have a police force or military detachment to defend me, I do not have serial callers or a media machinery to spin my story, all I have is the God whom I have served over the years, he is my strength and my fortress and it is to him that I commend this matte."

He highlighted that his sermons on the tape have been distorted and urged the agents to desist from dragging him through the mud. According to him, he has strived to build a reputation for himself and therefore won’t wobble in partisan politics.

He stressed “When I speak to encourage people, I speak through the core of my being; my messages speak to Christians of all shades, Muslims and a large segment of people who belong to different belief systems. I have endeavoured to be a bridge builder.

My church has active members with all shades of political opinion; they have comfortably sat under my ministry over the years because as a guide I have stridden to use the pulpit of the church for the preaching of the gospel of Christ and the upliftment of my hearers.”

“My pulpit is not for partisan politics,” he added.
