Rama Brew attacks Ghana movie industry
Ace actress and once jazz music icon, Rama Brew, has advised players in the movie industry to work hard to enhance the quality of movies produced in the country. Assessing the standard of the Ghana movie industry, Rama Brew said much seriousness is needed to boost the movie sector and advised the various actors to ward off any lackadaisical attitudes in order to make strides. She made these remarks on Hitz FM on Thursday. Speaking to the show host, Bola Ray, she however believed young actors in the industry have exhibited signs of hard work but added there should be a change of character in order to improve the sector. “Everyone is walking around with their nose in the air and doesn’t want to take any kind of criticism because they think they know it all,” she posited. She said “they [actors] should get more into the characters they play and better scripts should be written in regards to what happens in everybody’s life or everyday life instead of glamorizing things all the time.” The Home Sweet Home actress noted that most movie producers in the country do not add a fly-on-the-wall touch to the movies and therefore do not relate to the everyday life of Ghanaians. She therefore urged the censorship board to enforce its regulations and ensure that the movies meet the required standards. She expressed her disapproval over the explicit sex scenes in some movies and charged the board to be stern in the actions. Source: Adu Gyamfi Ameyaw
